Tips for Navigating Behavioral Health as Someone in Recovery
  • Always disclose your recovery status to behavioral health providers. It affects what medications are safe and what kind of support you need.
  • Co-occurring disorders are common. Treatment that addresses both mental health and addiction simultaneously — dual diagnosis care — is more effective than treating each alone.
  • Medicaid can cover almost everything including therapy, medication management, and MAT. Applying through idalink.idaho.gov is one of the most important steps you can take in recovery.
  • You can call 988 for any mental health crisis — not just suicidal thoughts. Severe cravings, panic, psychosis, or feeling out of control all qualify.
  • Peer support is powerful. AA, NA, SMART Recovery, Celebrate Recovery, and NAMI peer groups are all free.
  • Don’t wait for a crisis to reach out. Ask Phoenix House staff to help you connect with a counselor or therapist now.
