Types of Legal Help Available
Most legal aid organizations serve people below a certain income threshold. Even if you don’t qualify for free representation, many offer low-cost consultations or self-help resources.

Civil Legal Aid — Housing, family law, benefits appeals, and consumer issues. Idaho Legal Aid Services provides free representation and advice for eviction defense, custody and divorce matters, protection orders, and denied benefits appeals for those who meet income guidelines. Where to start: Call the Idaho Legal Aid Services intake line to be screened for eligibility.

Record & Fines Help — Expungement, warrants, and outstanding fines. Where to start: Contact the Canyon County Public Defender’s Office or Idaho Legal Aid Services to ask about clearing old warrants or setting up a payment plan for fines.
